Baked S’mores Squares

Memorial Day Weekend is right around the corner and that means my annual family camping trip! I love getting to spend quality time with my family outdoors, whether we’re hiking or just sitting around the fire. Speaking of fire, one of my favorite parts of camping is making s’mores (my family calls me Biscuit for a reason). The combination of graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow is one of my absolute favorites! But if you don’t find yourself around a campfire this holiday weekend – no fear, you can still enjoy s’mores made right in your kitchen! My girlfriend and I got together a few weeks ago to share some wine and try this recipe for Baked S’mores Squares. Definitely worth a try!

Baked S’mores Squares

• 1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
• 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
• 1 1/2 cup marshmallow fluff (don’t melt your own!)
• 1 large egg
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 2 king-sized Hershey’s milk chocolate bars

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light. Beat in the egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, and salt. Add to the butter mixture and mix until combined. Divide the dough in half and press one half into the bottom of the prepared pan (this layer doesn’t have to be super thick, we ended up running out of the dough for part of the top layer!). Place the chocolate bars side by side over the dough. Spread the marshmallow fluff over the chocolate. Place the remaining dough in a single layer on top of the fluff. We improvised and placed whole graham crackers on top where we ran out of dough- it worked out fine! Bake for 30-35 minutes, until lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting into bars- makes about 16 squares (at about 316 calories each).


Baked S’mores Bars: Tara Tested, Tara & Friends and Father approved! These bars were so delicious it was hard not to eat up the whole tray! Okay, maybe it was a little easier not to after we calculated the calories- but I believe in moderation. If you’re a s’more lover like me, these are definitely a must-try!
